What Is Metal America?
Metal America® is a family-owned metal roofing and siding manufacturer headquartered in Post Falls, Idaho, with a second location in Spokane Valley, Washington. Founded by brothers Shawn Sternberg (CEO) and Justin Sternberg (COO), Metal America operates as a full-service steel coil processing facility, meaning every panel and trim piece is designed, rolled, and finished in-house before shipping directly to contractors and property owners across the Pacific Northwest.
We are a leading metal building products manufacturer serving residential, commercial, and agricultural customers throughout Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Montana, with the ability to ship materials nationwide.
Our Post Falls facility manufactures hundreds of panel profiles across standing seam, exposed fastener, and architectural wall systems. All are backed by a 40-year paint warranty and built from American-sourced steel.

Note: Metal America® (Post Falls, ID) is a separate company from any similarly named businesses operating in other regions and serves as a primary manufacturer for the Inland Northwest market.
Why Contractors and Property Owners Choose Metal America
Metal America was built by people who have installed metal roofing and siding for over 25 years. That hands-on experience shapes every product decision, from panel geometry to coating selection to the accessories that make installation faster and cleaner.
Here’s what sets Metal America apart:
- In-House Manufacturing: Panels are rolled at our Post Falls, ID facility. No middlemen, no markups from warehouses or distributors.
- Direct-to-Customer Pricing: Because we make it ourselves, you get better pricing than buying through a distributor chain.
- Fast Turnaround: Local manufacturing means shorter lead times. Most standard profiles ship within days, not weeks.
- Walk-In Locations: Visit us in Post Falls, ID or Spokane Valley, WA and talk to a real expert. Samples available on-site.
- 40-Year Paint Warranty: Our WeatherXL™ SMP coatings are engineered for long-term color retention in the Pacific Northwest climate.
- American Steel: We source primarily from American steel suppliers using recycled ferrous scrap, supporting domestic manufacturing at every step.
Metal America Roofing: Panels for Every Application
Metal America roofing systems are available in two primary categories: standing seam (concealed fastener) and exposed fastener panels. Each serves different applications, budgets, and aesthetic goals.

Standing Seam Roofing: Clean, Modern, Hidden Fastener
Standing seam is widely regarded as the premier metal roofing system. Fasteners are concealed within the panel seam, meaning the roof surface is completely clean and watertight without exposed screws that can back out or corrode over time.
Metal America manufactures four standing seam profiles:
QuickLoc™: Metal America’s most popular hidden-fastener panel. QuickLoc™ offers the benefits of standing seam at an accessible price point. Its interlocking system snaps together cleanly, making it a favorite among residential contractors for home roofing, barndominiums, and light commercial buildings. View QuickLoc™ →
1.5” Snap Lock: A traditional snap-lock profile with a 1.5-inch rib height. Ideal for residential and light commercial roofs with standard pitches. View 1.5” Snap Lock →
1.75” Snap Lock: A taller rib profile that provides enhanced water drainage and a more pronounced architectural look. Suited for steeper pitches and projects requiring a bolder visual statement. View 1.75” Snap Lock →
Mechanically Seamed: The gold standard for commercial low-slope applications. Mechanically seamed panels are field-seamed using a specialized tool that creates a fully watertight double-lock seam. Preferred on commercial roofs with low pitch where water movement is slower. View Mechanically Seamed →

Exposed Fastener Roofing: Economical and Versatile
Exposed fastener panels are the most widely used metal roofing system in agricultural, commercial, and residential construction. They install quickly, cost less than standing seam, and are available in a wide range of profiles and colors.
Tuff Rib: A structural panel ideal for metal buildings, shops, barns, and agricultural structures. Tuff Rib is one of the most recognized roofing profiles in the Northwest. View Tuff Rib →
PBR Panel: The Purlin Bearing Rib panel is a structural roofing and siding workhorse. PBR is the standard choice for post-frame construction, pole barns, and commercial metal buildings. View PBR Panel →
7/8” Corrugated: Classic corrugated metal with a timeless aesthetic. Available in standard steel and in Cor-Ten® weathering steel for an architectural oxidized-steel look. Popular on modern farmhouses, event centers, and commercial facades. View 7/8” Corrugated →
7.2 Panel: A wide-rib exposed fastener panel engineered for structural applications and metal building systems. View 7.2 Panel →

Flush Wall / Soffit

Metal America Colors & Finishes: 44+ Options Including Wood-Look Prints

One of Metal America’s most distinctive offerings is its extensive palette of colors and finishes, including a specialty line of photorealistic wood-look metal prints that no competitor in the Inland Northwest can match.
Solid Color Panels
Metal America offers 44+ standard colors on all major panel profiles. Colors are applied using WeatherXL™ SMP (Siliconized Modified Polyester) coatings, engineered for UV resistance, color retention, and durability in the high-UV, freeze-thaw climate of the Pacific Northwest. Browse All Colors →
Wood-Look Metal Finishes
The Metal America wood-look finish line uses 8K high-definition digital printing on steel — scanning actual wood planks to create photorealistic grain patterns. The result is metal siding that looks like premium wood but requires zero maintenance, resists fire, and carries a full structural warranty.

Current wood-look finishes include:
- Smooth Cedar — Warm, authentic Western Red Cedar tones. Metal America’s most popular wood finish.
- Barnwood — Weathered, rustic barn wood character with a weathered gray palette.
- Rough Cedar Gray — Cool-toned rough cedar with natural grain texture.
- Gray Oak — Clean, contemporary gray oak grain.
- Walnut — Rich, dark walnut tones for a premium, upscale appearance.
- Chippy White — Distressed white-painted wood effect for farmhouse and cottage styles.
- Burnt Wood Charcoal / Burnt Wood Black — Japanese shou sugi ban-inspired charred wood aesthetic.
- Pecky Cypress — Natural pecky cypress texture with organic character.
- Gray Wash Barnwood Plank — Cool-toned gray wash over barnwood plank texture.
- Primitive Pine Plank — Classic pine plank grain with a warm, natural feel.
Specialty Finishes
Beyond standard colors and wood looks, Metal America produces a range of specialty finishes for projects that demand architectural distinction:

- Cor-Ten® Weathering Steel — Develops a natural patina over time. Used extensively in modern commercial, event center, and landscape architecture applications.
- Vintage / Patina Finishes — Pre-aged finishes that mimic the look of naturally weathered and oxidized metal.
- Additional textures and coatings for unique project requirements.

Metal America’s Commitment to American Manufacturing and Sustainability

Choosing Metal America means supporting domestic steel production and sustainable building practices:
American-Sourced Steel: The majority of our steel is sourced from American suppliers using primarily recycled ferrous scrap. We support the domestic steelmaking industry at every stage of our supply chain.
On-Site Rolling Reduces Carbon: By processing steel coils at our own Post Falls facility rather than shipping through multiple warehouses and distribution centers, we significantly reduce transportation-related carbon emissions — savings we pass along to our customers through lower pricing.
40+ Year Lifespan: A metal roof from Metal America will last 2–3 times longer than an asphalt shingle roof. Fewer replacements mean less waste and lower lifetime cost.
100% Recyclable at End of Life: Unlike asphalt shingles or fiberglass panels, metal from Metal America can be fully recycled at the end of its service life. Steel is the most recycled material on Earth.
